About Jane...

I am a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (Inc). I am also a registered teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers.

 

I completed my Psychology degree with First Class Honours from Southern Cross University. I have also achieved a Master of Education (ACU), a Bachelor of Science (GU), a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ACU) and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics (GU).

I have worked in a range of contexts, including leading tertiary institutions, Catholic and Independent Primary and Secondary schools, and in a Not-for-Profit organisation in Child Protection/Foster Care. I have experience as a teacher, in leadership roles, and as a Guidance Counsellor. At present, I am a Psychologist in Private Practice and continue to work as a Guidance Counsellor in a school. Within these roles, I have successfully supported children, adults, and families from a range of backgrounds and life situations, including First Nations Peoples, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and LGBTIQ+  individuals.

How I can help you...

 

I provide an empathic, warm, supportive, and professional approach for school-aged children, adolescents and adults in the following areas:

  • Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Adjustment (loss and grief),

  • Trauma/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),

  • Self-harm and suicidal thoughts,

  • School and workplace difficulties (including bullying, conflict, and stress), learning and study skills, motivation /procrastination,

  • Negotiating accommodations at work or school for neurodiverse ways of thinking, learning, processing and behaving (including for those children, adolescents and adults with a diagnosis of ADHD or ASD (Autism)),

  • Self-esteem and confidence issues, self-awareness and personal development, assertiveness,

  • Family relationships and parenting.

The approaches I use...

As a registered psychologist, I offer you years of experience combined with an evidence-based therapeutic approach to support and assist you in making changes to attain the best outcomes for you or your child. My depth and breadth of experience has provided me with the capacity to develop therapeutic approaches specifically catering to your or your child’s individual needs. I draw on a broad range of evidenced-based techniques and strategies, including those from:

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy,

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy,

  • Schema Therapy,

  • Trauma-Informed therapeutic approaches,

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy,

  • Solution Focused Therapy.

Receiving a Medicare rebate

 

If eligible, you may receive a Medicare rebate if you have a Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan and a referral from your GP or a referral from your psychiatrist.  Currently, Medicare provide to eligible clients a rebate of $88.25 for a 50-minute session with a Registered Psychologist.

Available days and hours

My clinic hours are:

  • Monday to Friday - every weekday  - from 9am – 5pm.

I can offer early or late appointments on these days subject to availability.
